Summary: What do Miles Davis, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Warpaint, Liz Phair, Deer Tick and The 1975 all have in common? They've all employed the shorter scale, but enormous sound of the legendary Fender Mustang. These humble offsets are capable of so many sounds, from articulate, round beauty to crushing roar. This all original 1966 Mustang is the genuine article. Originally part of Fender's student series-following the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic-but the Mustang was the first offset to be featured in the range. By the 1990s, the Mustang had become an indie-rock workhorse and It's remained relevant as a new crop of players discover its sound. 

Body: Alder with Daphne Blue finish

Neck: Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard, 24” scale length, 1 5/8” nut width, 22 frets, pearl dot inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Fender single coil pickups, Fender tuning keys, Fender Mustang bridge, black knobs, bone nut.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in lovely shape. It has light surface scratches and small indentations on the body, along with tiny chips along the edges (pictured) The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show wear consistent with a guitar of this age . The back has light buckle rash, and light finish checking and wear/scuffs around the edges. The headstock shows some finish crazing as well.  Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
